Portofino!

Man, what a beautiful, beautiful place.

Since I’m still out of cooking commission, I’m feeling pretty worthless in this blogging thing….currently boating our way through Greece, trying to detox all the pasta we have consumed in the past week. How much pasta could two people eat in one week? Well let’s see…7 days in a week, pasta 3 times a day, (lunch, second lunch/first dinner, dinner) times two people, romantically sharing like those dogs from that movie I never saw because I was busy watching murder movies with mom yep, that young….well it’s a lot of pasta.

Also got to eat the best pizza of our lives there. OUR ENTIRE LIVES.

DFDkldjgldksjgsgkjdskgjsdgkjdsgj. The crust. Nothing will ever, ever compare.

I am dying to get an outdoor pizza oven in LA. I once googled if non-businesses can get customized pizza boxes. I tested logos (turns out my face is cartoony just as it is) They can. We can. This is my next goal in life. My goals are quite small but very filling.

But, oh yes, we ate more (I have no clue if anyone is interested in this but I figure since I was the loser taking all the pictures of things she eats, I might as well post em)

Here are some of the tastiest things that went down my eat hole in beautiful Portofino…

Crab salad…

Chicken salad which yikes this photo looks porny…

And another

Spaghetti with clams, one of my most favorite dishes in the world. This was specccctacular. The spaghetti tasted like it would have been delicious all by itself. So salty and perfectly al dente. Made me realize how truly important it is salt the crap out of your pasta water. I can’t believe I didn’t use to do this. I make it snow into that pot now. Then that pasta water into the sauce to get it all nice and clammy? Oh baby. Everything, every part of this meal was just so flavorful.

Also, for the record, one of my favorite places to have pasta (usually linguine for me) with clams in NYC is Five Points in the east village. It’s so nice and spicy there. Aw man now I’m thinking about lasagna verdi Thursdays at Frank on 2nd avenue, also in the east village IF YOU HAVEN’T BEEN YOU MUST GO!! Order it well done if you are a genius like me and love toasty lasagna edges okay gotta go change my pants now

Lobster linguini.

I live in San Diego and have also been looking at getting an outdoor pizza oven for a LONG time. After researching and seeing how much hassle a wood fired oven really is (huge, cleaning ash, having wood on hand, etc), I found something called the ‘Blackstone Pizza Oven’. It runs on propane, is similar in size to a regular bbq, easy to assemble, and I can get it to 1000 degrees in about 15 minutes. It can cook a pizza in 90 seconds (and is supposed to be great for steaks too — but I havent had it long enough to try).

Take a look at http://www.pizzamaking.com/forum/index.php/topic,25127.40.html for some pictures of people making pizzas in it.

How do you feel about John’s past relationships especially the ones where he was sleeping with your model friends like Jessica White? Also, why wasn’t John’s brother at your wedding?

      • Helz September 25, 2013 at 9:01 pm #

Dude, not nice. Get a life.

      • Jennie September 25, 2013 at 11:00 pm #

Wow. Its a blog about food. Calm yourself down.

      • owen September 25, 2013 at 11:10 pm #

@Helz (I couldn’t reply directly to you.) You are telling me to get a life but we are both lame enough to be posting to Chrissy Teigen’s food blog. I think we both need life’s. It’s cool. Plus she can handle it. She comes across as such a free spirit but it has to bother her knowing that John slept with Jessica, which means she is 50 cent dick sucker by proxy. Plus the question about Vaughn, his brother is a valid one. Where was he?

      • Ivy October 4, 2013 at 1:25 am #

Owen, I would imagine that she feels exactly the same way anyone marrying a partner who’s, oh… I don’t know… had sex before would about the partner’s sexual past. If it happened, it happened… it’s over… it’s in the past… and now this person is with her. Also, your comment about her being a “50 cent dick sucker” is crass, ignorant and rude. Lastly, whether his brother was there or not is none of your business and it’s completely unacceptable for you to ask a question about personal family matters to a stranger in the first place, let alone on their fucking blog.

This looks amazing!! We recently spent 6 weeks traveling around Europe and I spent most of the trip focused on pasta, too :) Enjoy Florence – the David is the least overrated, super sexiest statue in the world.

And most of all – CONGRATULATIONS!!!

  3. catvoncat September 24, 2013 at 2:14 pm #

I misread that one sentence as “currently bloating our way through Greece,” which sounds like it also may be accurate. Enjoy!

  4. wildbluewonder September 24, 2013 at 2:16 pm #

Yum x a million!! I really want to go to Ireland first if I ever make it overseas, but these photos are making me doubt myself!

The one time I visited Italy, I found Florence’s pizza to be OUTSTANDING!! Would be interesting to know the Pizza Power Rankings of the Italian cities you visit.

Prosciutto, rucula, fresh mozzarella and dolce far niente. Perfect plan!

  12. Karin September 24, 2013 at 2:56 pm #

Argh! Want that pizza NOW! I spent two weeks stuffing my face in Italy and having pasta 3x a day and I’d give anything to do it all over again. I will start salting the crap out of my pasta water now.

  13. carmenkitty September 24, 2013 at 3:19 pm #

  18. Laura September 24, 2013 at 6:30 pm #

Gahhh, all of the food looks so amazing but especially the pizzas! After my last trip to Italy, I tried in vain to recreate the thin crust/brick oven super deliciousness that is Italian pizza, but it never turns out quite the same as the real thing!

  19. Yasmin September 24, 2013 at 7:44 pm #

I love waking in the morning to find your ramblings in my inbox, such a great start to the day. Also, Florence in amazing, I loved it much more than Rome. If you aren’t already you should go to Lucca, its wonderful. Pebbled streets and shutters on all the windows. Hope you are coming back to Australia with John in December? “A day on the Green” (the festival John is playing) is set at a winery (ofcourse this was enough to sway me). xo

HOLY CRAP AM I EXCITED. Something told me to check into your blog today. I am beyond happy to see that you have posted! I have seriously been checking back into your blog since March getting sadder as the months went by but these posts more than make up for it! I still make my chipotle chicken, cheesy cheese-less eggs and cheesy guac all the time (I fall victim as well to the low carb dieting which means I can consume all the cheese I want right? lol) I need more tips and tricks in addition to cooking my eggs slow and long and putting alcohol in my sauce when they freeze to make them slushy. Hopefully we will be seeing more recipes soon or else I will start having withdraws.
Now I am just waiting for you to get your own show damnit.

  22. Yamili Saucedo September 25, 2013 at 9:28 am #

Seriously, when do you get your own show Chrissy!?!!? It would so be worth watching. I believe you will get your outdoor pizza oven…if anyone can make that happen, it would be YOU..haha. Thanks again for sharing … looking forward to the next one! xx yams

I love the idea of going to Europe just to eat and am so jealous right now! You always hear the horror stories of all the tourist traps in Europe, where you’re presented with the most over priced awful food ever! At least you guys got to go to the good places. Keep the pics coming!

  26. Andrea September 26, 2013 at 1:05 pm #

Chrissy please do a blog post about what you’re eating in Greece – cheese-smothered pork chops??!! I. MUST. SEE THIS. :) xx

you are really making my mouth water. you know the back of the mouth, up near the cheeks, I forget what that area is called but its doing something. One part of my desire to visit Italy is to have the pasta and pizza and desserts…just like Julia Roberts. Now you too. Congratulations to you and John. Great couple! The steak looks good too. Salivating!!!!

Hi chrissy, congratulations first of all! What a gorgeous couple you are. Ok now on to the food. I see you love linguini and clams. Me too. Too much. There’s a place in LA little Tokyo called marugame monzo. It’s an udon place where they make their own noodles. They have many different kinds but the one I can’t stop ordering is the vongole udon. Clams, so delicious. Get it with the tempura soft egg. Heaven! Enjoy your honeymoon! Best, Karen

  30. LoryG October 6, 2013 at 4:59 pm #

I got off the Dave Koz and Friends Cruise in Mykonos, and saw a couple that I swore were you and John. When I spotted you walking toward a yacht, I REALLY thought it was you! What a special honeymoon! BTW, the restaurant I went to ran out of Pita!! Crazy!

  31. Rebecca October 8, 2013 at 6:43 pm #

Now that you guys are married it would be nice if you would do a follow-up show on the cooking channel! Caught the engagement/meal planning one on the fly one day.
