Talking about bacon reminds me of making something my friend makes. She saw it on Food Network. She makes the bacon and once they are crispy and room temperature, she dips them in chocolate and puts them in the fridge to harden the chocolate. She serves this as a dessert. It sounds worth a try. Sounds pretty artery-clogging!
I’ve had a variation of this recipe, it was made with hominy though. Little bits of crispy bacon mixed in, it was amazing. It goes really well with my papas jalapeƱo cornbread. Don’t know if you’ve ever had it, but you can’t go wrong with cornbread, cheddar cheese and jalapeƱos all made in an incredibly hot cast iron skillet. Yummmm.
My word, that sounds amazing. I would literally kill my own Father for that right now. My late lunch of spinach and ricotta tortellini has a lot to live up to now. Don’t let me down, shelly pasta!
Just thought I’d give a little update on what happened during tortellini time. I under cooked the pasta, made the accompanying sauce too watery, left the pan unattended and had a boiling water over flow nightmare. Pasta disaster. Well, I have dinner to pull it back and make something edible, or I’m demoting myself to cereal and fruit. Still thinking about that jalepeno deliciousness up there…
Thanks very much, Amber! Had dinner at my Dad’s house tonight, but it’s shopping day tomorrow so I’ll pick up the stuff and make it then. Will serve as good snacking in between a long day of work and writing
You should try making a cold salad with grilled corn(olive oil, salt&pepper), sliced cucumbers, tomatoes, and avocado. Topped with balsamic vinaigrette.
I made this Southern Fried Corn last night and it was BRILLIANT! My hubby said that if you were there he would have given you a HUG! (He doesn’t know you’re a model, so there’s no untoward motivation for that – hehehehe). Keep the great recipes coming, Chrissy – you’re turning me into someone who loves the process of cooking, which I formerly detested!
I love to cook but when I want something really good, I go to my papa, because he can make anything taste good. I gave him this recipe and he made it a few nights ago. It seriously is like food porn. We tried something similar before but it was made with hominy. Let me just tell you that corn is 10 times better. I can post a picture if you like.
yummers!
OH yes that would be magical with shrimp and grits, no?

I don’t know, considering all I have for lunch right now is tomato soup, spinach and ricotta tortellini sounds fantastic!

Aren’t you glad I told you Google it? I don’t know how I’ve gone almost 24 years without knowing that this existed.
